The world football community converged in Lagos, Nigeria, to honour the best in the game on the African continent.

The high point of the event was the announcement of the most coveted award –the African Footballer of the Year which went to Arsenal and Togolese striker Emmanuel Adebayor.

Salomon Kalou of Chelsea and Cote d’Ivoire won the Young Player of the Year Award,

While Alice Mattlou of South Africa, was named the Woman Footballer of the Year.
